WHAT TO EXPECT
A kitchen remodel in Flagstaff is one of the most complex single-room projects a homeowner can undertake. Behind every new cabinet run and countertop is a sequence of decisions involving structural considerations, plumbing rough-ins, electrical panel capacity, ventilation, and material selection that has to work in Flagstaff’s climate and altitude.
Barden approaches every kitchen remodel as a design-build project. That means one team handles everything from your first material selection to the final punch list, and a fixed contract price is set only after the complete design is finished and every subcontractor has priced their scope. Nothing is estimated. Nothing is left open.
Kitchen projects in Flagstaff typically run 8 to 10 weeks of active construction, following 4 to 6 weeks of design. From your first consultation to a finished kitchen, most projects take 3-4 months.

SCOPE OF WORK
Every kitchen remodel is different, but here is what most Flagstaff projects include from our team:
All cabinetry is selected with our in-house design team and specified before construction begins. Style, finish, hardware, interior organization, and layout are all decided in the design phase, leaving no mid-project selections that delay the build.
Quartz, granite, quartzite, and butcher block are the most common selections in Flagstaff kitchens. Your designer will walk you through the durability, maintenance, and aesthetic considerations for each option relative to how you actually use your kitchen
Hardwood, luxury vinyl plank, and tile are the most common kitchen flooring choices we see in Flagstaff. Material selection accounts for the transition to adjacent living spaces, radiant heat compatibility if applicable, and the specific subfloor conditions of your home.
Sink placement, faucet selection, dishwasher connection, and pot filler installation if desired. All plumbing work is scoped and priced before the fixed contract price is set.
Recessed lighting layout, pendant selection over islands and peninsulas, under-cabinet lighting, and any panel upgrades required by the new layout. Electrical scope is fully planned in the design phase.
Barden coordinates appliance selection and installation as part of the project. Timing matters in a kitchen remodel and we schedule delivery and installation to align with the construction sequence so your project does not sit waiting on a refrigerator.
Investment
Flagstaff kitchen remodels through Barden start at $75,000. Most comprehensive kitchen projects with full cabinet replacement, new countertops, updated plumbing, new lighting, flooring, and appliances typically run between $90,000 and $150,000 depending on the size of the kitchen, the material selections, and whether any structural changes are involved.
Before design begins, we establish a general investment range based on your goals and budget. Every material selection, cabinet spec, and fixture decision made in-house design team is made with that range in mind. By the time we go out for subcontractor bids, the number is not a surprise, it lands where we said it would.
The most important thing to understand about budget is when the fixed price is set. Barden’s fixed contract price comes after the complete design is finished and every subcontractor has priced their scope. That means the number you sign is based on actual bids, not rough estimates. Across all recently completed kitchen projects, cost variances above the fixed contract price were driven by owner-requested scope additions, not contractor surprises.
A recent kitchen remodel in Cheshire came in at $115,100 against a $105,700 contract price. The $9,400 variance was entirely owner-requested changes made during construction. The project completed a full month ahead of schedule.

process
Most of the work on your kitchen remodel happens before construction starts. Here is the full sequence from your first conversation to a finished kitchen.
FREE · NO OBLIGATION
We start with an honest conversation about your goals, your home, and your budget. Before anything else, we give you a general investment range based on your project scope so you know what you’re working with before design begins. You’ll leave with a clear picture of what’s possible and what it will realistically cost. Most kitchen and bathroom projects move to design within a week of this conversation.
4–6 WEEKS
Your in-house designer works with you to complete every decision before construction begins. Cabinet layout, countertop material, flooring, lighting plan, plumbing fixture selections, appliance specifications. Every detail is resolved in this phase. The fixed contract price is set only after this is complete and all subcontractors have submitted bids.
Fixed Contract Acceptance
Once the design is complete and all subcontractors have submitted their bids, we present your fixed contract price covering all labor, materials, permitting, and project management. You review everything, ask any remaining questions, and sign only when you are confident. Nothing moves to construction until the contract is signed and approved.
8–10 WEEKS
Construction begins with a signed fixed-price contract and a detailed schedule. Your project manager coordinates all subcontractors, manages the sequence, and updates your BuilderTrend portal weekly with photos and schedule information. If you are living in the home during construction, we plan for it, including setting up a functional temporary kitchen space during the demo and rebuild phase.
PROJECT CLOSE
Before we call your kitchen complete, we walk through every detail together. Punch list items are resolved before closeout. Your warranty coverage begins at completion.

EXCELLENT Based on 109 reviews Posted on Mike CunninghamTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. My experience with Barden Home Builders is from the standpoint of one of their trade sub-contractors. Every job is clean, well organized, and ready for us to do our work. Their jobsites are well managed. I cannot overstate how important that is to help us do a good job for the homeowner.Posted on Jacob LesandriniTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We bought in 2023, and we love our house, but it only had one bathroom and we are four humans (and two dogs). In addition to this, the bedroom was always disproportionately larger with respect to the house as a whole. We were not sure what we wanted to do, but we started to do some research and poking around. We were lucky enough to find Barden Home Builders. From start to finish, we always understood what was happening. When we had questions, it was super easy to reach out - it didn't matter what questions we had. What we appreciated the most was how Barden asked us what our budget was - the specific dollar amount - and they then designed our project to meet our needs and be on budget. They met the budget and also the time-line. We love the new bathroom and walk-in closet that connects to our bedroom. It's hard to remember what it was like before - two bathrooms have reduced the overall conflict in our house! Beyond this, everyone who came into our house or did work on our property was kind and respectful. We got to know several folks pretty well, and our kids and dogs have definitely missed Barden since they finished up. The next time we have a project that is beyond our reach, Barden is our first call. Our kids/dogs miss them! And I know it will be quality work.Posted on Amy MaisTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Barden Home Builders completed an extensive exterior restoration and renovation of our home outside of Flagstaff, Arizona. The project included replacing and installing new siding, new stucco, as well as painting and staining the exterior walls. Extensive work was also required on a large three car garage and detached shed. We also replaced and added a new gutter system better designed to keep water off the fascia and a new roof. From beginning to end, the Barden team was a class act. Every single detail was covered and implemented in a very timely fashion. The communication was outstanding. The completed project exceeded our expectations. We would give Barden our highest recommendation.Posted on Jesse CollierTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google.
